A mammalian, sapient primate species with an endoskeleton and fragile outer flesh. While they lack any particularly notable strength, natural weapons, or extrasensory abilities, they are unusual for their evolutionary niche as persistence hunters. Human technology tends to be versatile and dedicated to surviving in unwelcoming environments (and the range of welcoming environments is very narrow for humans).
Humans are notable for a history absent of intraspecies conflict except for political/national struggles. Their pre-Contact history is absent any kind of systemic oppression or colonial exploitation. Therefore their society was unprepared for the xenophobia and bigotry that arose after Visitation. This severe xenophobia has been described as a “human problem” and is connected to much of the difficulty that humanity has had integrating with broader galactic society.
